The Trumbull Retired Teachers Association aims to enhance all phases of a retired teacher’s life. We address financial, health, recreational and legislative interests . TRTA has been recognized at local, state and national levels for the work of individual members and committee work. TRTA works closely with the community , sponsoring spelling bees and donating scholarships on an annual basis. TRTA meets bi-monthly at noon on the second Tuesday of the month. Retired teachers and household members living on a teaching pension are encouraged to join TRTA. TRTA is an affiliate of Ohio Retired Teachers , ORTA, and STRS. Membership forms are available on this blogspot. New members are always welcome.

Volunteer Chair, Marilyn Stanton and Treasurer Ellen King, tabulate nearly
one thousand dollars in donations for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Money was donated by TRTA members at the December meeting.

Carol Kinsey, our District Director from ORTA, addressed the group at our October meeting.
Past President Denise Deltondo accepts the Volunteerism Award from Ohio RTA leaders. This is the second year in a row that TRTA has been NUMBER ONE in OHIO for volunteerism. Whoot whoot!

State Representative Sean O'Brien recently presented TRTA with a certificate of commendation for outstanding performance as determined by ORTA for volunteerism .

.The next meeting of  the Trumbull Retired Teachers Association  will be second Tuesday in February for a noon luncheon at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre, 123 N. Main St, Niles. Hear informative speakers and updates from ORTA and STRS. Members can also purchase table arrangements by Mary Fuller with profits donated to Trumbull Mobile Meals , Inc.   The Community Services Committee will collect items : cancelled stamps,candle wax, cell phones , eyeglasses, hearing aids and  yarnMembers are encouraged to invite recent retirees to attend TRTA meeting and contact Jane Cribbs for new memberships. Anyone interested in attending TRTA meetings should send $11.25 to Ellen King, see the link on this page for a reservation form. There is also a form in the newsletter link.

Trumbull Retired Teachers are announcing the scholarship winners for 2014. Seated l. to r. Carly Cogar of Niles High School, Alexa Goffos of Lakeview and  Morgan Kush of Warren. Standing are  Jacob Lipkovich of McDonald and Rebecca Lynn Shelton of Maplewood. The Association sponsors year-round fund raising projects to award scholarships. The TRTA has awarded a total of $38,000 to students from 66 different schools. TRTA is an affiliate of Ohio Retired Teachers, ORTA and accepts members from any district in Ohio. 

Congrats to Anna Mae Cuchna and Betty-Jean Behmer..WINNERS OF LEGACY OF THE VALLEY AWARDS 2013. Both sisters were inducted in the Niles McKinley Hall of Fame in Oct.  2014
